Moose again. I was asked to volunteer to take photos for the Moose Mountain Trail Races 16k, 29k, 42k, to fill in a last minute cancellation by the race photographer. I am not by any means a photographer but was willing to help out.
So I got up at a time that many would consider early (I certainly wouldn’t have minded sleeping in), hiked up into the fog, and waited for the runners at the turnaround. A man and two kids who were responsible for the turnaround were already set up there, with a nifty tent and all, waiting for the runners. Well. Turns out there were already two people taking race photographs.
Today left me with the impression that some coordination between the race directors and the volunteer organizer is in order. I’m sure it will be worked out for future editions.
On a good note, I got to see some of my friends run their races, and in general, despite the coldish foggy morning, people seemed in good spirits. Considering they were running up a mountain. For fun.
