20140914: Lost Soul coulees and Dinosaur Valley badlands

20140906: Lost Soul Ultra, Lethbridge Alberta. This year I’m not quite trained (yet?!) so I did one loop 53k and called it a day. Gorgeous weather with a sweet breeze. Lots of cactus but no snakes or porcupines spotted this year. Had to leave early and get to Kananaskis for a wedding. Otherwise I would have done another loop for sure… Yeah… sure…

20140914: Dinosaur Valley Half Marathon, Drumheller Alberta. I’d heard good things about this race and scored an entry so I decided to go and get in a relaxed run. Sunrise over Horseshoe Canyon as I drove into Drumheller. Beautiful course in the badlands. My feet took a while to get used to the pavement though. At 8k we hit the Midlands Provincial Park trails – very nice. What a treat to have a ‘short’ run day and be done early in the day. Had lunch in the caf at the Royal Tyrrell Museum and walked around a bit more. Nobody else was out there. I can only imagine what it was like in the 1800s. On horseback, hiding out in the canyonlands, dust, wind. Amazing country.

Nice trail with lots of variety. We managed to avoid the searing hot temperatures of races past
