20161105: Early Ice on Mt. Bishop

John called it “mixed” and I called it “non-classic”. Eh, just get up it any way you can. We were simply ecstatic that our lugging of gear into the Continental Divide didn’t go to waste and we actually got to play on ice.

Ice globs + aerated slush + gaping holes of freezing waterfall. 2 hrs of sleep, 10 hrs in mountaineering boots, 100kph+ winds (can’t.move.can’t.breathe.), knee high icy stream crossing…

Yeah it wouldn’t be a Gerry trip without weird pointless arduousness, going off course, and ending up on a completely different mountain than intended!

Here’s Angie’s pic of Jag; she and Rick and Jag logically decided to go around instead of climb. But perhaps we had more fun..!

Fun in the sun

Here’s Gerry’s pic of John topping out “P1”.. If one can even call it a pitch.

The group: Gerry, John, Jessica, Angie, Rick, Jag, Steve, me.
